Hi everyone. On my '01 Ranger 4.0,on the high pressure hose from the compressor to the condenser, where the hose bolts to the back of the compressor there is what appears to be some kind of a valve screwed into
the hose assembly.Does anyone know what this valve is for? Is it replacable or part of the line assembly? If while trying to fill the system,if the refrigerant bubbles out of the valve, does that mean there is a blockage or other problem in the system?
Any advice greatly appreciated. Summer is coming soon I hope)
Thank you,
Joe
The valve is a high pressure bleed off line. If it is leaking either the system is overfilled or the valve has failed. Either way, you need to replace it. On some you get lucky and can replace just the valve, on others you need to replace the entire hose assembly. Either way, you really should not be doing this work yourself. If your system leaked, it leaked for a reason, and air could have gotten in, and fixing it requires equipment you most likely don't have and diagnosing it requires equipment you probably don't have, and your efforts to repair can make it more expensive to fix later.
Thanks for the info,KhanTyranitar. After looking around on AllData,I did find out that it is a pressure releif valve.I work in a garage but not a Ford garage. We're going to hook up the machine to it,evacuate it and find out whats going on.
