ZF5 differences?

Looked all over this forum, as well as the internet, but can't find an answer.
I have 2 zf5 transmissions, with different Ford part numbers.
As I recall, Ford only changed the part number if there was a change to the assembly (but I may be wrong on that).
The numbers are;
F2TA7003RA
F4TA7003DB
Both are 4WD/460.
Does anyone know the differences between them (however slight), and/or if one should be favored over the other?

Check this out:

ZF Transmission Parts Available From ZFTransmissionParts.Biz

Note two numbers are shown for 7.5/4x4. And just below that it says they are "...100% interchangeable."

That could be what you are looking at. If you can find the ZF part number, it could confirm it.

Here's another chart: http://www.zf.com/na/content/media/u...ion_Charts.pdf

I would use the one that is in the best condition, or the newest one if they are each in the same condition. I don't know what the difference would be, but if the number changed, something had to have been updated, and likely for good reason.

Ok, here's the "pertinent" info off of each one.

Transmission 1
Model S5-42
Parts list 1307 050 080
Serial 8302339
Ford Part # F2TA-7003-RA
Total Ratio 5.76-0.76
Build Date 100891

Transmission 2
Model S5-42
Parts List 1307 050 120
Serial 8619175
Ford Part # F4TA-7003-DB
Total Ratio 5.72-0.76
Build Date 072495

One thing I noticed, that from '92 to '94 1/2, the first gear ratio changed, from 5.76 to 5.72. I haven't been able to find anything else different about them.

It must be a misprint. Those two part numbers are serviced by the same rebuilt transmission number and have the same ratio range: http://www.zf.com/na/content/media/u...nsmissions.pdf

They should be equivalent, the only difference being any design improvements made between '92 and '94.

The 1st gear is the same for both transmissions, according to FoMoCo (F3TZ-7100-A)

Ok. Must be a misprint on the data tag.
