Am thinking of putting a B&M Light Truck Megashifter in my 71 Shortbed Sport Custom... only concern is seat clearance. Does anyone know if it will fit without seat modification? It's auto on the column now, btw.
I put a Hurst 2 pro-matic in my 65 and it fits fine, even allowing for moving the seat forward. Although, I can't imagine sitting any closer to the steering wheel in these...

I put the standard MEGASHIFTER in my truck. I put the shifter in "1" then placed it on the floor so the handle was just ahead of the seat and marked/drilled the mounting holes. It works great. The handle is just a little taller than the top of the seat. The tricky part was routing the cable so it makes a nice curve going to the linkage on the trans.(no sharp bends)
what gets me is that, no matter what kind of fancy sporty shifter people install, it is still an automatic.
And? At some point I'll probably pull the column shift off of mine and put in the Z-Gate that's sitting on the shelf in my garage. I mean, why wouldn't I? After all, no matter what I do to it it's still a 40 year old pickup truck
