That was your second mistake.

IMO I think it's a cheap way out to do this and very dangerous. Even if it doesn't fly apart, the severe axle wrap is going to get you broken springs and possibly broken axles. Good luck with it.

well, if you insist on half-a$$ing it and putting yourself and other drivers at risk, just get some all-thread and beat it around your new "add-a-block" kit to shape it and throw on some nuts. if its too long you can always stack up a bunch of washers...while youre at it, why not get a little piece of pipe to extend your shocks to make up the difference of the new "lift"?

seriously guy, a shackle flip will actually cost you less and be much safer.

thats a good idea, i will do that in conjunction with the screw in spring spacers up front to level it out...thanks for the info all!!!

You might want to lay under your truck and look again. Ford uses blocks in ALL their 4wd Fullsize trucks

I'll compromise with you on this one. There is a plate between the axle and spring pack which has the "arm" sticking in I'm assuming to make contact with the bumpstop. However, it is only 1 and 3/8 inches thick and the U-Bolts run through this plate. No way possible for it to kick out. I do not call this a block, but you may.

In my case it doesn't matter because I won't use blocks, stacked or not.

And thats is EXACTLY what i have 2 of and plan on stacking, its not huge, its notched to seat properly and i dont see how adding that small amount will cause any of the problems you people state...

the picture i have in my head is of two 2 1/2 inch blocks stacked and one shooting out as you turn a corner and hit a bump at the same time, (rare, i know) resulting in your axle going s%$#can and the truck flipping, catching fire, and taking out a minivan full of nuns and the tiffin girls peewee soccer team on their way to the regional finals.

if its only like a couple inches total, why not get yourself some thicker hunks of metal (like the factory blocks on an f250) and just throw those in. then you could just buy the right size u-bolts and you'd solve two problems at once. just sayin

I need to see a pic of this. Never seen a plate that the u-bolts go thru, except the plate on top of the spring

I emailed the guy on eBay and ordered them to my specification. I also have stacked blocks, FYI. I have always heard they are bad, but as hard as it is to get them in there without the u-bolts present, it's hard for me to believe they are going to "kick out" because the u-bolt stretches. I mean, really, how far is it going to stretch? It would have to stretch and inch at least for the blocks to get out and that is just not going to happen. If I was banging this thing on rocks every weekend I could see the concern, but this truck does not get abused like that.

i dont know about where you are but here in edmonton alberta there is a spring shop that will bend the u bolts to order, they just have various lengths of rod with threaded ends and bend them to required diameter

My word is not enough? I'm offended. Well, not really. I have a funeral to attend tomorrow but if I'm back home before dark i certainly will.

My F150 has the same deal except it doesn't have the holes for the Ubolts, its just a spacer and the arm. Aftermarket or fabricated maybe?
