2006 6.0 81000miles Two week ago she was starting ruff, to the dealer. found bad F.I.C.M half shell.
After getting it back,Right away noted missing and felt like a govonor was on the engine at 3000 rpm no power. just for a short time after start up then its ok? They tought it maybe the trans. I had the trans flush done the prior visit, trans check out ok.
They called Ford hot line they said replace all 8 injectors. They ended up replaceing 4 injectors. Got it back again know blue smoke every time I start it up after a short sit time.
I trust the mechanic that works on it, but man can this keep going. Warranty is over in June. Any thoughts guys. I'm in the Detroit Michigan area if anyone know a top notch diesel mechanic.
I dont sit there and rev it up to 3000rpm I put it drive and go. shift point are up close to 2500 to 3000 on cold starts, that was when it would act like it had a govoner. " thats fixed it was the F.I.C.M."
Know the problem is the puff of blue smoke.
Cheezit that is what the mechanic said Ford would only athorize 4 injectors at a time, Monday its back to the dealership. Its getting a little frustrating. I'm doing the right things with schedueled maintenance of the truck. Following some of the big guys here and doing the maintenance they recommend.
By the way "CONGRATS BILL" On your milestone. Thanks for all the info you share with us.
Most of the time they look at me like I'm full Of Sh**. but every time they do find something. Still one sound they can't find, sounds kinda like a tapping sound and I don't mean the normal diesel tapping sound. They just can't pick up the sound that I'm talking about, they said sounds like a diesel to them!!!!!! LOL
Don't let them blow it off. I buy/sell alot of 6.0s and picked up one that I swore sounded funny. Had a ticking/tapping that was a little off from the regular diesel sound. Took it to my mechanic buddy at the Ford dealer. He had a couple of their engine guys come listen and they thought it was a lifter. They weren't sure of anything but that it was something internal & was gonna be a big project to dig in and fix it.
