I have '04, F250, 6.0 PSD, auto,Fx4, cc, sb,3.73 gears & towing a 11,700 lb 5th wheeler sometimes to FL & back to Detroit area. I recently got Edge with moniter & would like to know if it's advisable to get something to supplement the stock transmission cooler? BTW I only use Edge in 45 hp (mode 1) for towing.
I'm also told the trans temp gauge on dash isn't really that great as far as letting you know when the temp starts to climb. Would it be a good idea to get another trans temp gauge? I drive rig very easy and the stock trans temp gauge never showed any kind of trouble. Just stays in the center after warmup. Thank you all very much for any assistance.

I believe that the Edge with the Monitor has a Trans temp built in. I do not have the Edge but I thought that was one of the things you can monitor along with pyro and boost.

The Edge doesn't have a setup for the transmission temp. It monitors boost, EGT, RPM's, and backdown percentage.

Thanks PSD for clarifying that. Sorry Rick. IMO the trans temp gauge in the dash is worthless if you get it in the red you problemly cause the damage already. Get with Motorhaven they can get you single gauge for your transmisson temps.
When the temperature (EGT) exceeds the pre-set limit (you can adjust it yourself) the controller will back down the fuel from 1-100% in order to keep them from climbing. I have my alarm set at 1450 and the backdown start at 1500. With the backdown at 1500 I have never seen it exceed 1510 so far. It reacts very quickly; but yet the truck doesnt really *lose* power when it occurs; it just doesnt pull quite as hard until the temps begin to fall.
If you hit enter twice, it will pull up a bypass menu with a timer on it; it allows you to deactivate the backdown for a set amount of time for a hazardous pass on the interstate or a run at the strip.

My pulling conditions are similiar to yours.
I pull a 14,200 lb. 34' 5th wheel with a 4x2 2004 F-250 diesel.
To calm my fears about the tranny i sprang for the Oilguard oil and tranny secondary filtration kits . They sponsor the site and have a link on top.
Anyway, i pull a few thousand more pounds than you so don't worry about the weight being too much or hurting the truck.
The oilguard kit added 2 more quarts capacity to the oil system and the tranny kit i have not put in yet but it will this weekend.
It splices in pretty clean so no need to lose lots of fluid or having to pull the pan.
Installing the oilguard tranny kit and adding magnets to the tranny pan are all i know as far as protecting the trans.
Oh, don't forget to always engage the tow-haul mode when towing.
I forgot one time and the truck shifts pretty harsh and jerky in the regular mode when towing big weight.

I will probably buy some cheapo magnets somewhere and put them inside the pan like my 1999 F-150 had. It always had that metallic paste stuck to it so it was effective.
