i have a 1978 f250 with elec issues all lights will flicker with the engine running then today i just noticed that with the engine off and ignition in on posotion and one of the turn signals on i can hear the electric fuel pump surging with every blink of the turn signal any sugestions on what could cause this
The flickering lights are indicitave of a charging system issue - most likely the regulator is faulty, or the regulator is OK, but not properly grounded (more common).
It's difficult to say what's causing the issue with the fuel pump, as these trucks never came with electric fuel pumps, so it means it was installed aftermarket. Given that, it's anybody's guess as to how it was wired - you might try tracing the wiring to the fuel pump. Either it's wired incorrectly, there is damaged insulation shorting somewhere, or there is some oddball ground issue that's not obvious.
