Idit light

Why does the idit light stay on when the charging curcut is working. Wife drove 50miles with the light on.When she got home I checked the voltage on the bat. 12+voltsstared the car and checked the alt. output 14.43 at idle 14.83 at 200 rpm.idit light still on

Idit light

Check all the connections to the Alternator and the Voltage reg for being clean and tight.

I don't know what you are working on, but if what Dennis said doesn't work, I would pull the connector off the regulator and then turn the key to run(don't start the car). If the light still burns, the wire from the light to the regulator must be touching ground somewhere. If it doesn't burn, then it might be something wrong in the regulator itself. This is assuming you have a system similar to the seperate alt-regulator systems on the older trucks.
