i also have the same problem im pretty proficient in electrical troubleshooting for gm vehicles this is my first truck and i was wondering would dielectric grease work also to help in the connector? and where would i locate the dash ground?

What year is your truck? The Haynes manual shows where the grounds are.

'87-up uses balanced gauges, so there's no pulsing voltage regulator like older clusters.

Pull your cluster & clean all the terminals on the connector & the film circuit. Use an eraser or some REALLY fine (300 or higher) sandpaper. Fine steel wool would work, too, but it might leave fibers that could short something out.
