I'm in need of some help here. I've got my 79 SWB 4x4 down to the bare frame and I'm prepping it for sandblast. I need help in understanding how to remove the cab mount bushings. When I use an impact on the nut on the underside of the bushing, the entire bushing turns. Do I need to use something on the topside to keep the bushing from turning while I spin the nut off? This looks like it is supposed to be very simple, so if it is, I apologize for the elementary question. Thanks to all for your help on this!
I got them off. I read another thread that suggested inserting the cab mount bolt from the top and threading into the lower mount nut. Then I proceeded to beating the hell out of the bolt head with a 12 lb. sledge. This separated the two cab bushings like a charm. Thanks all.
Get a 7/16"-14 bolt about 4" long. screw it into the lower mount from above and wack it with a sledge hammer (a little ball pein hammer won't work). This "should" separate the upper and lower mount but sometimes the pieces are so rusted together that you end up cutting them apart.

How do you go about doing this with the cab on the frame and fenders in the way?
Primered 79 SB, The procedure being described is after you have removed the cab, or moved it back out of the way....at least it was in my case.
Yup, that's with the cab out of the way. Not sure how to go about it with the cab in place.
Not sure if there's enough room, but you might be able to get to the mounts with a sawzall with a metal blade and cut the mounts in half and separate them that way.
