Funny you should mention that. I just took the clutch pedal out of my project truck yesterday to use it for a MT conversion on my daily driver. I used a big screwdriver on the fixed mount to pry it off, but I broke the 38 year old plastic bushing in the process. I haven't figured out how to reinstall it yet. I guess I'll jump off that bridge when I come to it.
ya I just got it off and broke both plastic pieces too. are the two aluminum pressed in pieces were brake pedal go between loose? the right one is about to fall out. I dont think you can replace them either.
Mine weren't loose but I did have a problem with them on my '68 Cougar when I converted it to a 4 speed several years ago. I replaced them with some nice solid aftermarket steel bushings from a local muscle car shop. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the same size.
To revive an old thread about the big spring:
I installed a clutch spring I found in the junkyard, as mine was missing for several years. I have the plastic clip that keeps it from rubbing the metal at the clutch pedal stop bracket, but is there a similar piece for the rear of the spring? I'm asking because the spring makes very annoying creaking and rubbing noises when the clutch pedal is depressed, and it annoys the hell out of me.
An aside- I used a drum brake tool with a spring hook and a lot of biceps to remove the spring. It worked fine.

The nylon bushings (2471) are available from Ford, the aluminum (some are bronze) bushings are made as part of the bracket the pedals suspend from, cannot be replaced.
Notice in parts catalog pic the two nylon bushings (7526) on the clutch release rod. These crack apart, the 90 degree ends of the rod begin to crack, eventually snap off. Not pleasant!

One trick to get it off: with the spring extended, fill the gaps between the coils with small washers or even coins to keep it extended. Relax the spring and remove.
Figured out mine doesn't expand enough to get anything between the coils.
Looking for other ideas. Getting it off is one thing. Getting it back on is another.
That spring is a bear. To reinstall it (didn't remove it since got the unit in the j/yard) I clamped it in a vise and zip tied it together to hold it compressed. Once in place, I snipped the z/ties.
