I do have to admit I have always preferred Fords and maybe that clouds my judgment some....
I was bored today, so I decided to get off the island & go test drive the GMC Sierra HD Denali 3500 Duelly. I have to admit for being the top of the line Denali series, I was very disappointed in the 62K truck. While I know the truck is heavier than my F250 SRW, the 3500 still felt very unresponsive, & by unresponsive, I mean, if one had to get out in to traffic especially with 3.73 gearing. The interior noise was a little more, but certainly tolerable and really only noticeable if you had total silence in the truck, I.E. no radio on or anything.
Where the big disappointment came in was the "Creature Comfort"/"Bell's & Whistles" area.......NAV system, way behind the times, still DVD based and the overall audio headunit was very very basic, no comparison to the MS Sync system. Console storage was far less and certainly not as user friendly as the Ford's. Towing Mirror's........no power fold & no power extend.
Driver Information Center on the dash........my truck has the LCD information center and since being exposed to that......the Denali is again out dated.
I could go on and on breaking down the comparison's, all in all, after doing this today, this evolution has further solidified the piece of mind I have of the truck I chose to purchase (my F250) last June.
If one is looking at both vehicles strictly from a mechanical perspective, I feel both trucks are as close to equal as any 2 trucks can be, give or take certain areas, however for those who spend alot of time on the road (me), creature comforts play a big role in the overall enjoyment of being on the road.
As a final word, I am in no way downing the GMC 3500 Denali, it is a beautiful truck, hence the reason why I drove 200 hundred miles to a dealership that had one in stock to test drive.
So I guess it all boils down to personal needs, and mine was to try and get the best of both elements, "Mechanical" & "Creature Comfort" to which I feel the Ford has the best combination.
Please don't blast me, as this was just a personal observation. I'm not Pro-Ford or Pro-GM, I am for whatever gives me the best of what I'm looking for, and for this particular area, I am happier than ever I chose my F250.
Hope Everyone's Weekend is going good!!!!!

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Thanks Epic!!
I've always wanted a duelly, Ford or GM, both are excellent looking vehicles. Even though I don't do anything that would require a truck of that caliber, I just love how they look going down the road, but living in the keys, the roads are considerably narrower, and I know I would curb check the outer wheel all the time......and I have to be honest, all the marketing hype on the video's......curiousity & boredom got the best of me, so I went and checked one out.
When all is said and done.....for all who owns what ever brand of vehicle......if it brings a smile and enjoyment....then to me, that's all that matters. Vehicles that carry this kind of price tag, I can only hope the owners are still smiling as the payment leaves
the wallet, Lol LolI know I still smile
I think faking them would come back to haunt them big time, besides, the tests are relatively straightforward and easy to reproduce if Ford or anyone else wants to do so.
I tow my 5th wheel out into the desert, and the payload weight of my 5th wheel is a little below 3000 pounds.
I've never gotten across ditches enough to get a wheel off the ground, but it gets really close.
If my tailgate gets scrunched, There will be a reckoning at my dealer.
I think Ford optimizes the trucks for MPG, not drag racing. The 6.4 MPG debacle really got their attention, just like it did me.
GM has spent some time and money (tax money) on some significant upgrades.
We should give them credit for the effort.
Remember, during the GM bankruptcy, all of their R&D work stopped on the trucks for about 4-6 months. They are catching up, and Ford better do something about the frame strength and brake fade tests, because GM is just an interior upgrade away from stealing the show.
Go take a look at the interior of a new Cadillac CTS, GM can do it the interior right if they have the time and budget.
I have owned almost every light-duty variant of a pickup or SUV GM has made in the last 20 years, including S-10, C/K series, etc.
My wife drives a 2009 Suburban, so I am very familiar with the current GM interior. I admit I was also tempted by the introduction of the new Denali HD models, especially as a prior owner of a Yukon Denali myself. They are sharp, no doubt. However, I also did not feel that the interior features available on the Denali model were sufficient to justify the upcharge they are demanding for it. The lack of a long-bed option on a SRW was probably the killer for me though.
When I drove the Super Duty last fall, I was instantly sold. I waited for timing to be right, and I ordered a new F-250 and January and it was delivered in late March.
I have about 1600 miles on my Lariat now, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Of course there are a few things I wish I could change, but all in all I am happy.
I will be keeping my eye on that Terrain concept GMC did. It would be an interesting truck if the rumors about it going into actual production hold true.
It came down to the Bail-Out that obummer gave to GM. Now I'm a very happy F350 SD owner.
