I've been thinking about this for a few days now. Occasionally there seems to be some bashing of Chevy on this board, and on a Chevy board that I occasionly visit there's Ford Bashing. Can anyone explain why ford guys don't like chevy and vice versa? I drive an explorer, but used to have an S10. I loved the S10 until it was totaled. Now I love the expy.
Please don't use this thread to continue the bashing.
I would say brand loyalty. I own Fords but have had several Chevys and Dodges as company vehicles, to me the Fords beat out anything else I have driven in durability and comfort. Are there some other features that the other brands have that I wish Ford had??? sure but it is nowhere near enough to make me switch.
guy down the street here has a 96 Chevy Z71 with 110k on the clock...
my 95 f150 went to 175,650 (all original) and the motor went south...
he gave me a hard time about it, but i told him that when he hits 175, to give me a call...he owns 3 chevys, my dad's 2000 ranger 3.0 has 134k on it, so it looks like we're beatin him lol
It's usually just brand loyalty. Each company has good cars and bad cars.
We have had a Chevy Lumina, a Dodge Ram Charger, a Ford Mustang, van and F-150, not to mention the Pontiacs Caddies and Lincolns.
They have all had their pros and cons. Except that 55 Caddy, that thing was perfect in every possible way.
I do love my 78 F-150 though. Have to admit, it is one tough truck.
On a similar subject, I just don't understand how anyone, even Ford enthusiasts can like any Mustang between 1980 and 2004. Pre-80s Mustangs rock, and the new Stang kicks butt, but ugg... those boxy 80s and bland 90s... *shudder*<o></o>

For me, it is what I was brought up around and just grown to love them. From what I have seen in my life, Fords have been a little more reliable and tougher. That is just what I have seen.
I have likes and dislikes about each brand, no loyalty to one here. I like the looks of the ford trucks the best, but have many gripes on powertrain sometimes... the major reason I have the ford I do is because of the diesel under the hood, for the age, there was no real comparison. I can't afford a Powerstoke, nor the maintenance on it, so I run a 6.9 that gets the job done all the same.
My parents have owned fords and chevys. Mom's F-250 is at 379,000 and has had no problems except for wear items. Dad had a chevy express, and it went through a few trannys(but that was his fault). He bought an 03 E-250 and it has been pretty good so far, except the 20" plasma TV went south but it was replaced under warranty.
mywhole family has owned chevys, my dad ownes a 75 G10 van, my cousin has a 78 C10 suburban, and my uncle has a 89 gmc seirra 1500 which just blew a head gasket. I had an 86 F-150XL but family probs got rid of that and i just got a 76 F-150 ranger and both of them were far better quality than any of the chevys in the family. i think ill stay loyal to ford for a long time
I'm a long time Ford fan. My only qripe with the 97 & newertrucks how motor is crammed under the hood. Servicing these motors is a pita compared to a pushrod V8. I am loyal to no brand & will admit the best 1/2 ton trucks I've owned were Dodges. I've had 11 Ford trucks but none were as trouble free as the Dodges. My Dodges were before the new bodystyle which I hear isn't as reliable as the 93 & older ones.I've only owned one chevy truck. It seemed to be a good truck but it was totaled before I'd had it a month.

Chevy - Ford - Dodge - They're all the same, I think most people just pick the brand they like the best and run with it. I used to like dodge's until i found my F150 - now I brag about it all day long because I'm proud of what i own - that's why I'll rip on Chevy guys too sometimes - because I can and because its fun. But in the end, anyone who tells you a Chevy 350 is a sucky motor is a fool, and anyone who tells you ford trucks dont last is an equal fool, and anyone who tells you that the 1994 dodge was'nt a huge impact on the truck market is even more of a fool. I love my fords, and i wont be converted anytime soon. But like i said, they're all the same - its just that the blue oval speaks to me.
