ESOF hub problems
I noticed that when my hubs were set to "AUTO" they do not automatically engage. So I peeked under the truck and both vacuum lines were plugged in and not cut. So I checked fuses; also no problems. I jacked the truck up tonight to try to find the problem and found:
1: left hub is very difficult to get from auto to locked (and vise versa)
2: hubs still do not automatically engage.
3: when I turn the left hub to auto I hear a clicking sound (when the wheel is turning), so I kept both hubs in locked for the ride home.
What should I try next? I would rather not switch these hubs out for manual hubs.
Thanks

Looks the the ESOF runs are handy but probably not the best as far as longevity goes. Lots of problems with them staying locked, freezing ect. manuals are the way to go nut ny wife, its her truck, does want to get out to lock the hubs....its a girl thing.
I have a great extended warranty but my shop mistakenly put manual hubs on, so now we are waiting for the Ford ESOP hubs to come in. I like the manual hubs myself they lock up and pull like a raped ape. The other problem is after they put the manual on the rim tire mounting cover doesnt fit....
So if you stick with ESOP it will require maintenance, new ESOP hubs from Ford are like 800-1000 a set, new top of the line manuals are about 200 a set....big difference.
SGnAZ:
I have this upcoming week off so I think I will try going through that lubrication procedure. Hopefully the hubs just need to be lubricated, but if I did break something then I will see that when I get the hubs apart.
