[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Dec-02 AT 06:36 PM (EST)]i was pulling a trailer with a 88 f250 with a 351 today and it was a work out for it i was wondering if a 460 would bolt up. I not sure the tran is exactly it is a 3 speed automatic i belive, does that sound right?

No. The 7.5L has a different bellhousing bolt pattern. You should get the transmission & engine fixed. If the trailer weighed less than ~4000lb, you shouldn't have had trouble. If it's over that, you can expect any engine to have to work, except a diesel.
