The bracket under the dash which stradles the steering column and holds the clutch pedal assembly in place on my '88 is snapped in 2 peices.
Has anyone ever had to replace this thing?
It looks like I'll have to pull the steering column at least. Some crack head who had the truck befor me tried to weld it back together once befor, so I think I'll try to fix it correctly and replace the peice. Is this practical or should I attempt to weld it again?

Just wondering how you made out. I have the same problem with my 89. The bracket is cracked and the pedal sits about 3 inches too low. Did you replace the bracket ? Did it go smoothly or did you contemplate pushing the truck off a cliff? How much did the part cost?
I will likely be tackling it this weekend so if you could provide any tips it would sure be appreciated.
It wasn't really too bad. It took me about 3 hours to swap the brackets, but I wasn't in abig hurry.
You do not have to completely remove the steering column, just take the bolts out and move it over. I tied it the shifter.
Its not nearly as bad as it looks, but there are 2 things-
1. Pay close attention to how the brake-push rod assembly came apart. Its a little tricky. I had took it apart a week before I put it back together and had to cruise over to my dad's house to look at his.
2. Make sure you get the nuetral safety switch back together right. Otherwise you won't be able to start it. I blocked mine open because it was worn out.
I hit several wreckers including the Ford only guys and it appears this is a very popular part. The dealer parts counter was closed so I'll have to check on Monday.
Sounds like we're not the only ones to have worn out this part.
