Well we have Made it to Alabama. We went thru Starkville and then Columbus towards Tuscaloosa. They put us in a "safe" lot right off 82, north of the airport. Looks like we will drop the trailers and head inwards to see if we can help clean roadways, esp since all the trucks have police style strobes on them. All I can say is WOW!............totally speachless and in tears seeing hundreds of houses totally distroyed. My hearts go out along with my prayers!
Scott, take care down there. From what I've seen it's just a nightmare.
Still no power at my house. There were 125,000 homes/businesses without power in our area...it's down to around 38,000 now. There are so many downed trees, that one street can take a crew 1/2 a day just cutting through to be able to access the wires. Projections are that it may be Thursday before everyone has power back.
Update guys,
Well we dropped off the supplies to the necessary areas and started working with clean up. About 12 hrs of chain sawing 5 hours of moving supplies around and maybe 2 hrs of sleep, we are heading home. The emergency crews said they didnt want too many people around doing too much just yet, as they could still be bodies to be found. So we helped clean up the roadways for them and ensured they had paths to where they needed to go. On the way back to TN, but sounds like we might do another trip next weekend too, depending how things are going. My deepest prayers and tears are out for all those effected! Sorry I didnt have time to get any pics, not to mention its heart breaking, plus we were too busy doing other things. Good luck my Bama brothas and I am here for ya!
