im gunna be doing my cab corners in the next few weeks on my 94 and im trying to find a good diy walkthrough. ive searched and searched and have limited results. im curious as to what most people do with the foam that is in the cab corner. to me i want it gone as im sure it holds water and makes it rust out faster. if anyones got some hints or tips on supercab cab corners id like to hear/ see them thanks!
I have a regular cab and facing the same dilemma on the cab corners - how to protect them from future rot.
I pulled as much of the foam out as I could, as it seemed to act like a sponge and hold water. Then I used a propane torch to warm the area and dry it out. On the driver's side I had to weld a small patch to cover a hole. I then used ospho on the interior, followed by cold galvanizing paint, followed by a waxy rust inhibitor. It still leaves a cavity wear water can collect, especially in the northern climbs when snow gets tracked in.
Any ideas on how to fill the internal cab corners to prevent water collection? I'm thinking of packing it with grease once I get the whole truck repainted.
I would cut/replace the corners....And use POR 15 on the inside....Maybe drill a couple drain holes....You can put plugs in them if you want to then...
