c6 in f150?

ok so i bought a '93 f150 4x4 with a leaky AOD transmission thinking it would be an easy fix and i could then sell it. well upon closer inspection, the transmission and transfer case are cracked. oh THATS why it was leaking.

i have a c6 with a tcase ready to go. what differences are there with the mounts, lines, length etc. between the c6 and aod? if i use that can i just use the driveshaft from the c6 donor truck?

also, are all bw 1356 cases the same? will a 1356 from a c6 bolt to an aod or an e40d? i could probably find an e40d more easily than an aod.

thanks for any help!

Not an expert but can help a little. The transfer case will interchange between transmissions.
The C6 would be the easiest swap. Should be around the same length as the AOD and requires no electronics. Hook a shifter up, a kickdown rod, a vacuum line from engine manifold to trans and go.
The E4OD would probably be around 3-4in longer than the E4OD. You would probably need the crossmember with it, the driveshafts, the shifter/linkage and the computer and wiring harness from the donor as well.

ok ive been diligently hunting through the old posts on the transmission board and it looks like the c6 will bolt right in with only a few tweeks. i actually have the c6 and tcase and the driveshaft from the donor truck. i just didnt want to use it on a truck i am planning on selling. any flexplate issues? can i use soft lines or do they have to be hard lines?

Good question on the flexplate. Provided the two engines are the same you should be able to use the C6 torque converter (which you must do in any case) with its flexplate from the dpnor truck.
As for flex lines it`s up to you but hard lines would be preferable.

pretty sure i cant use the flexplate from the donor truck. its a 351 and the receiving truck is a 302.

can the case from the aod and tcase be welded to stop the leak? its cracked where the cases bolt together. it runs great but leaks like crazy. i dont want to half-a$$ it just to sell it but if its fixable...

Yes, I think you are right about the flexplate. The 302 has to have a balanced plate, Conanski is the expert on that.
Don`t know about welding it, I suppose it depends a lot on exactly where the crack is and how big but may be worth a try.
