My 2003 f150 has had the same problem for 10 months now and i can not figure it out. Here is what it is doing,..when i accelerate(especially up hills)the truck sputters, coughs, and misses. I have been trying to track down the problem for months. The list of things i have tried are as follows. Replaced fuel filter, replaced spark plugs, replaced spark plug wires, replaced catalytic converters, ran bottle after bottle of fuel cleaner etc. Thru. Any ideas of what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated... By the way, my mechanic says that it is NOT a coil pack!.................HELP!!!!!
Ethanol gas? My wifes 2006 ford 500 had a similar problem. Only it would die than after sitting for a few minutes you could proceed. Shop found the ethanol had gelled in the bottom of the tank. Had to drain tank. I know there are treatments out there (Expensive) that will help clean the junk out of the tank and fuel system. Got to love the new gas!

Despite what your mechanic says, it sounds like a bad COP. Have the codes scanned and see if there are any pending codes. If there aren't any, try to make the truck "sputter" for as long as possible and see if you can force it to throw a CEL code. You could also buy one COP and try it in each cylinder (1 in 8 chance).
Same problem on my 2001 Supercrew. I tried everything you tried, I had a broken wire for a fuel injector and it was a $10 fix. It could be your injectors. That was my next option. You can get 8 new ones on ebay if needbe for $100. Just as good as OEM.
I am having similar problem. Sputter, throws a code that they say is the CPS. Replaced with Motorcraft, still throws same code. Replaced Plugs and cleaned throttle body. Any suggestions. Sorry for hijack
Finally Fixed!!!!
Took truck to ford dealership. Even though there was no code, their computer picked up on a bad injector coil. Replaced for $100. Thanks everybody and good luck!
