SCT Programmer "Issues"

BEWARE of SCT 6.0 Flash
Truck running great? Think you may wanna 'tinker' with it to get a little more power or fuel mileage ? BEWARE of what "COULD" happen. Although I am sure there are 1000's of users who have successfuly used this with good results just beware of what can happen. It seems SCT is having 'firmware issues' in their products. Most of their dealers will give you a heads up to this and advise you DO NOT UPDATE your firmware. If you DO DECIDE to update your firmware and perform a tunes download I suggest you be sitting outside a FORD service garage. BECAUSE THE UNIT CAN NOT RETURN THE TRUCK TO STOCK. SCT dismall customer support will eat your time like Washington eats our tax dollars. Eventually the will blame it on your 'faulty' ECM (truck computer) that was running perfectly before they abandone you and no longer take your calls. I BLAME MYSELF for tinkering with an amazing running machine.

maybe its just a 6.0 thing? because i had mike adjust my three tunes about five times so far and never had a problem on my 5.4? plus i change between the three tunes at least three times a week if im towing the trailer just driving to and from work or on the weekends running the 93P tune at the track or out in the woods mudding.

Nahhh, I don't think it's specific to 6.0. Do the GOOGLE search I suggested.
Don't misunderstand, I KNOW SCT downloads work everyday. I just suggest you be sitting outside your FORD DEALER service shop when you make a change.
One Question ? Have you upgraded your device firmware recently ?
I would suggest YOU DON'T
Cause 'some day' when your device says 'download failed' and you turn the key and your dash gauges go crazy and your engine goes silent, you will remember this post.
I am glad you have had good luck so far. Wouldn't wish this problem on anybody.

I've used SCT's for programming and custom tuning for long time - on many different cars/trucks. Never had a problem.
Hopefully it's just an isolated case and you get back up and running strong again soon. You may want to reach out to a custom tuner that uses SCT. Perhaps a site sponser like 5star? Good Luck Sir.

Did you return your vehicle to stock before upgrading???
I just upgraded my device last week and had some issues while upgrading and was a little hesitant about reloading the new tunes because of the issues upgrading. I know will have to look deeper into this.

I did a firmware update on an X3 towards the end of last year and an X2 beginning of this year. Everything went off without a hitch. Its possible SCT could have some firmware bugs however operator error is more than likely the bigger issue here. I don't do any upates on my tuners unless I have to. If it ain't broke don't fix it. when i bought my x3 and custom tunes from mike he told me on the phone plus he put a sticker on the box cover that says no not update this device it has already been updated by programmer. So i dont know besides i have mike make a adjustment if i need it done i dont use the canned tunes at all.

If you bought your tuner direct from SCT, that's probably not the best thing to do. It's always a good idea to deal with a local dealer, with a personal touch.
Many here have had great luck with the SCT line.
My first instinct was to delete this thread, and I did. But on second thought, I brought it back from the grave after reading this:

I have the latest update and have for a while
I returned the truck to stock first
My update failed to load on my device ,, SCT took control of my computer and dialed it in
I have since used multiple tunes with no issues
