Come on Dude.... ya already got 29,832 posts. I don't have the time to help you reach 50K. I have a life surrounded by living breathing warm blooded people to talk to.

Have fun in cyber land . By the way, at the left of your Google Search Results there is a little button called 'More' or 'Fewer'. It is an amazing little way of seeing search results that are older than 7 days. Ya see genuis, Google sorts your search results in many ways. 'Sometimes' it sorts by Most Recent. Try the button, (oh, you do that by using your mouse)

I will not waste any more time with you. You see... YOU are now a figment of MY imagination. Wow, that was a bad dream.

The next post from ME on this OP will be relavent to the technical facts of the issue.

I wish you all the best (seriously).

Wow!!....you sure the issues are just with your SCT device??

Besides...relavent technical fact question I asked you way back when..."DID YOU RETURN YOUR VEHICLE BACK TO STOCK BEFORE UPDATING?"

I too had download issues & called Mike and Mike called SCT and had SCT call me, they hooked up to my computer and problems solved and I didn't have the need to go SHOUTING on this forum. What did you do to cause YOURSELF the problem?

hopefully your SCT doesn't crash at the same time ( not likley )
or keep a third copy on a flash drive etc
the reason for keeping it on your computer is for a back up copy the device also stores it
all of this could save you a tow to the dealer for them to reflash you truck in case of an issue
remeber this is a computer and just like a mac or microsoft loading programs can fail or worse

yeah that's my concern. My sct device crashed 3 times on me during my recent upgrade and i needed sct tech support to get the upgrades done. I know its a what if question....but due to my recent problems...what if it crashes during the save of my stock file? I'm leaning towards leaving it as is on my sct after that.

well your truck should always be returned to stock if your updating the sct anyway so thats not a concern

if you follow the proper procedures while uploading the stock file you shouldn't have any issues ,,( batteries in good condition is key specially when the key is turned to on and the GP's cycle)

one caveat i have seen is if switching between canned tunes and custom it's safer to return to stock first ,, I have only read that and can not confirm but I might not try messing with tunes on a long road trip besides swaping between custom tow and hp tunes myself

I had the same upgrade issue and same resolve ,, they probably should have done a little better ?

Sounds to me like you had Firmware issues with your unit. Just because you had issues in the past does not mean you will have issues in the future. Keeping a stock file on hand can avoid a trip to the dealer and save you money.

The file will not transfer (obviously) is a crash occurs and your back to square one. Once you do get the file backed up on your C drive save it to an external hard drive or USB thumb drive.(You should back up all important info anyways)

If you are running a Windows OS check out Microsoft Security Essentials. It is free from Microsoft and works better than ANY anti virus software I have ever used. Crashes and viruses are extremely rare for me now.

UPDATE OF "FACTS"

OK now 'just a factual update', no more humor. Most folks don't think I am that funny anyway

Fact 1: The 'top' people at SCT and the 'top' vendor/programmer in the country (in my opinion) are working hard to help me through this.

Fact 2: Truck is 'running' again.

Fact 3: I will followup with anything that we think will be HELPFUL to my fellow tune junkies.

Fact 4: I can't tell you what happened because we are not sure yet. Everybody is working hard to solve the issue so we can advise how best to avoid a complete failure.

to be continued as info becomes available

SOOOO, i ask again....did you return your vehicle to stock before upgrading your sct?

Who got your truck running? dealer or SCT?

You really leave us all hanging here..why?

Why so secretive about what is going on? is it a CIA truck? FBI? DUI?

You are the one ranting about how SCT ruined your truck. Meanwhile we find that it's not ruined.

And my wife and kids are surely warm-blooded

I PROMISE I will fill in the details. I have just learned to be careful with info because the fixated few tend to make assumptions, then it turns into a pissing match

I visit the forums for 2 reasons. 99% of the time I am looking for help and usually find it by the wealth of info from all of you. .5% I have something that I feel I can help out with but usually a pro has already helped somebody. The other .5% is to try and keep anybody from replicating my stupid mistakes. For example my original post was about updating your firmware on the product and what 'could happen'. The thing about these forums is people tend to read 'a little bit', or it may be my poor communication skils and then before you know it "theaters are on fire and women and children are being run over'. Not my intent so especially since this one has generated so much interest I am trying to be extremly factual. It is kinda humorus to watch people fill in the blanks.

All the agencies you mentioned CIA, FBI wouldn't have me if I worked for free. I used up all my luck avoiding a DUI when I was young so I never mix the two again. I did do 6 years for this great country when it needed me but the brave ones are still kicking butt in places wherever they are told. I wish that generated as much interest as my sick Ford.

Trying to give you an honest answer without fueling the flames of the ignorant. YES, it's running with issues. YES, SCT is helping me now. NO, I won't let a Ford dealer touch my truck. Last but not least, the virgin download failed and the truck would not return to stock or use the virgin download. People smarter than me are investigating why. I HOPE that gives you an honest answer without people blaming the 'black helicopters' or alternative agandas. But I also 'hope' I win the lottery to pay for the 2003, 6.0 bank account drain over the last 8 years.

When your truck is 'broke' that creates stress. I try and deal with stress with humor. My humor sometimes confuses people. These confused people sometimes entertain me. I know I 'shouldn't' but it sooooo easy to screw with the .0001% who would rather argue than teach or learn.

OK, back to the facts. As I can relate factual info I will try and be a good little 'junior member' from now on.

Enjoy your trucks guys, the important stuff in life doesnt burn fuel and is all FREE
