e4od strenght limits

How much power can an stock e4od handle? Also how much more power can an e4od handle with red eagle clutches and kolene steels? Is it worth an extra $150 dollars to rebuild the transmission with the high power kit?

I have been running a STOCK FoMoCo rebuilt E4OD (build tag shows 96, so it had the factory upgraded parts in it) behind a built 460 (500ish Hp) with no issues. The only mods are an extra trans cooler and inline filter assembly and the trans controller is set for a higher line pressure than stock (Baumann trans controller). That being said, if you are having it rebuilt, I would spend the extra 150 and have the good clutches installed in it, as well as making sure it has the upgraded internals also.

Throw a Punisher Valvebody in it and you will be good for quite a bit.

Alot of Lightning guys running high HP with stock E4ODs with only a Punisher valvebody and stall.
