I have search forum and everyone says when the vacuum goes it affects a/c and auto hubs. Can it only affect hubs and not a/c? My hubs don't auto lock anymore. Nothing happened that I am aware of they worked fine and one day went to use and nothing. 2005 F350 SRW 4x4, my a/c still works fine. I am hoping nothing has happened to hubs, they still work great in manual mode.
Your hubs can fail and not the AC....So far my hubs have had a vacuum problem twice on my 2010. Both times I crawled under the front of my truck and looked at the driver's side hub hose and it had pulled off and was just hanging there. I plugged it back in and it worked. The last time I put a zip tie on the hose to try to hold it.
Can you manually lock the hubs?
In my case the went south....that was my problem until I switched to manual hubs and no more issues.
Easy enough upgrade only takes about 20 min to do both hubs.
Yep, they work fine in manual mode. I was looking for easy fix to keep auto locking working. Pretty aggravating having to get out and unlock when pulling trailer of hay or animals from field onto highway once back on highway or vice versa. If just vacuum pump issue, then I am for sure fixing. If not then no need to change to a manual hub cause they work fine in manual mode.
If just vacuum pump issue, then I am for sure fixing.
Did you trace your lines? It happened to me twice already, the hoses aren't clamped on there at all....it doesn't take much for them to get pulled off.
Well, I did a brake job on it yesterday and while had everything off I check the air lines and found nothing wrong. But when I got everything back together and on my test drive I turned my 4x4 high switch and they engaged. SO, it was MAGIC!
