4x4 vaccum lines delete

Hey guys, got a 2015 ford f350 with electric shift on the fly with manual/auto locking hubs. My question, can i pull the vaccum hoses off at the hubs and cap them off and not affect the rest of the system ( A/C fan blendor). Id rather just manually lock them and have the ability to have a 2wd lo option when i need it.

Yes....make sure to cap vacuum lines as well as nipples on the steering knuckle. You could also just unplug your pvh solenoid as well.

I'm not sure on the 6.7L diesel, but I imagine its very similar to the 6.0 that I've got. There is a small electric vacuum pump on the passenger side of the engine bay. The vacuum is used to power the HVAC system dampers and the 4x4 hubs. That's it. The brake booster is a hydroboost that comes off the power steering system.

There is a 4x4 solenoid mounted very close to the vacuum pump. It should have a vacuum line coming in from the pump and one going out to the hubs. Unplug that solenoid and you should be good, it stays closed when unplugged so you won't have to worry about vacuum leaks.

Edit: Your truck looks like a gasser based on your avatar pic? In that case you don't have a vacuum pump, the vacuum comes from the engine intake manfold. But the 4x4 solenoid should work the same. Just unplug the solenoid.

You'll need rubber caps that fit the knuckle fittings....or threaded plugs to go in holes once you un thread the fittings...sorry not sure on the thread size needed, make sure these are water tight..if not you'll get water entering into your hub and that'll take out some bearings.......AS far as the vacuum lines..you have a couple options....you can use something as simple as a golf tee to plug the vacuum line you disconnected from that knuckle fitting....or since you said one of the lines has already cracked...trace them up to the pvh solenoid....this is the solenoid that sends the vacuum pulses to lock and unlock the auto hubs. On my 08 it's located on the passenger side of the fan shroud. A third option is the repair the vacuum lines that are cracked and leave them connected to the knuckles etc, and just unplug the electrical connector from the pvh solenoid itself.

Reparing sounds like the better option then pull the soleniod. Better for resale

On my dad's 2000 and my 04 f350's I bought stainless plugs from the plumbing store and used a thread sealant, I then removed the vacuum lines off the frame and up to the vacuum pump on the passenger fender. I then got 2" long stainless bolts and cut the threaded part off that left the smooth shank. I then inserted that into the rubber coupling from the vacuum pump

If you don't want the hubs to actuate, unplug the electrical connector to the vac solenoid.

I looked at the pic i took, the connector on the hub is thread so im going to put a plug in there, and then find something to stick in the tube.

i had two 1/8 plugs laying around i put some tephlone tape to prevent water. And i put screw in the vacuum hose. I found the vaccum pump, its actually right next to the motor just behind the fan shroud. It doesent have any solenoids next to it expect the harness to power it up. It appears to be totally independant of everything else. I unplugged the harness and i got a "CHECK 4X4" message. Vents still had air and still switched between vents. So i wil have to find the fuse or something. This is a 2015 F350 6.2. Also noticed when i removed the existing nipples off the knuckle, the line that broke, that fitting had heavy rust on the inside and was tough to get off. The right side had no rust and came off with ease. I assume water had gotten into the left side

I suggest you take the left side apart a nd check for corrosion. I looked at a 2010 a while ago that was used off road that had a cap missing off the nipple. The axle was seized when hub was unlocked,I assumed the needle bearing was seized on the axle shaft
