How big are you? Im 6'2'' and I never feel cramped in my truck. I think I got plenty of room.
5'10 just under 200 lbs. IMHO it feels cramped with the console so close. There's no room to spead out. I like the Consoles looks allot better than the 40/20/40 setup for sure but I wish it was smaller along with the dash to make the truck feel bigger up front.
I have a 2010 F-150 Platinum Package truck and I want to convert it from a center console shifter, to a column shifter. How do I do this reasonably priced? Has someone does this so they can give instructions?
The extra seat (aka mexican shotgun) is so crucial. All the dudes I live with have pick ups and mine gets used to most because of the extra seat, plus the shifter would have been in the way of my cup holder.
I like the console for storage and console shifter - takes me back to first muscle cars owned. I also like the buttons on the console shifter for manual shift control and it's easy to engage the t/t function.
I ordered an XLT with bucket seats. My '99 had a split bench. Just not as comfy as the buckets I had in my '93 Ranger before it.
The new 2011 XLT w/buckets has a column shift, big storage bin in the center between the seats, and still some floor space upfront where I generally leave my laptop/briefcase instead of hiding it behind the seats.
I believe the centre console comes with the inverter. I'll take a look when I pick it up tomorrow.
I have console but prefer the column. With the flow thru console their ain't no room to mount my CB radios. How can I talk to my trucker friends if I can't mount my radio?
console makes the truck look more like a car. cars went away from column shifters years ago because floor shifter was cheaper due to shorter linkage needed.
