I think that's the best place to get on after reading a couple of threads.

Sweet!

Here's the update:

I wound up only undoing the radiator and intercooler which allowed me easy access to get in there and clean them off. A ton of dirt and bugs and God knows what else came off.

I flushed the system using Goochs' method, and filled 'er up with ELC (Boy did that suck to find. You think it would be much more readily available......) I also replaced the thermostat and housing with one from Diesel Site. When I went to clean out the kiddy pool I used during the flush, there was a quarter inch of mud covering the entire bottom. That explained a LOT, but now I think I should be worried about my water pump condition....

I pulled my IC pipes and painted them red with ceramic paint. I know it's not the best way, but it'll work until I can powered coat them.

Then i got some simple green and did a little cleaning. This was where things went downhill. I must have gotten something wet that wasn't supposed to be, though I was very careful.

When I went to start 'er up she ran like a top for 5 seconds, then died. After a few more tries I began to diagnose. I started with the CPS, pulling it and completely cleaning all the connections. She started up and ran, but if I gave her some fuel, she hesitated/skipped. i took her for a drive just to be sure it wasn't something that needed to dry out a bit, but that didn't help.

After some looking on FTE() I decided to try a few things, starting with my IPR nut. It wasn't real loose, but it must have been loose enough, cause she cranked right up and ran like a champ. If that was actually the problem.

The obvious next step was test everything out. After some WOT runs and a long drive back to my apartment, I'd say it's fixed.

EGT's were 550-800* the higher end being some steeper hills. Normal cruising was 550-650* at 65 mph.
EOT hovered between 198-203* with the highest being 207* after some steeper hills.
Transmission temps were WAY lower running 130-150*. Driving it around town today it never got above 120*!

All in all, I'd say it's much better than before. Thanks for all the help on this thread and all the others out there!
