So, I replaced my hub last week. upon inspection of my rotor i noticed on the inside of the rotor i have a large grove that is higher than the rest like a stone got in the brake pad and caused ridge. It also had uneven wear marks on the outside of the rotor because the hub was in bad shape. I could wiggle the entire wheel when the truck was lifted. so the bearing was really shot. so now is the rotor and pads. So the question is ... can power slots (cryo treated) be cut like regular rotors or will it remove the slots and the cooling effect. I really don't want to buy a new one. These are only 1.5 years old. I feel a shutter as i stop now which means the rotor is messed up since the hub was messed up along with it . Now that's its all back in alignment i notice the stopping shutter. So if anyone has cut their powerslots let me know how it held up.. thanks Jeff
You can get power slot rotors 'turned' just like a regular roter. If I were you I would get both front rotors turned just to keep everything 'equal' on the front.
If the runout is off due to "wobble", and not from heat, I'd go with it. It'll be annoying for a short time, but the friction surfaces applied unevenly caused it, so applying the same surfaces evenly should correct your problem without removing unnecessary material. (It'll just take longer)
