Ipr screen
Ipr screen
At work we have an 06 that turns over but no start. We just had the EGR delete w/new cooler installed. I think the screen is plugged as the truck was running fine all day. So after researching on here this seems the next step. But where is it for sure. Can someone show a pic for an 06? Thanks
To answer your question about the IPR and its screen:
The IPR screen is on the interior end of the IPR sensor. That sensor is screwed into the HPOP through the cover (big hunk of aluminum). That cover is behind and to the rear (towards firewall) from the turbo. The IPR will be on the drivers side. The wiring pigtail and plug will be protected by a foil wrap that will snap into place on the sensor and will also have velcro on it. If you do not take the turbo out, you will need the "special" socket to get it out. The socket has a slot cut into it for the plug.
To do the screen, it requires a kit. You can't just unscrew this, pop off the screen and run it under a solvent to clean it. If memory serves, the kit comes with the screen and three (? or is it 4) o-rings. It also comes with a detailed diagram showing which o-ring goes where. If you push the screen on crooked while trying to get it to snap into place, toss it in the trash and try again with a new one.
Don't chance having this thing come apart because you mis-shaped the plastic screen piece during improper installation.
When removing the sensor, pay attention to the "clocking" of the electrical connector. When you replace the sensor, ensure that the connector is "clocked" to the same position.
You might want to check the ICP sensor also, since it is fairly easy to check. It is on the passenger side valve cover (04-07, earlier years the sensor is on the back of the engine block). Unplugging it sets the computer into default mode, which means that if there is sufficient high pressure oil present in the oil rails, it will fire. Just a wild "stab in the dark" guess from me. Might work, might not.

I have an 06 also.
Cheezit told me that when doing an oil cooler improperly cleaning around the cooler before replacing it and reinstalling it can clog up a a IPR vavle.
Sure enough I took mine out and it was shot. Screen cracked, dirty.
I did the same work you did also. Weird thing is I could unplugg the IPR valve and it still wouldn't start. Went to Ford bought a new vavle and it started.
Id say pull it out and check it out, I took my turbo out since I didnt want to waste 50 something bucks on the socket, I used a 36mm wrench.

Thank you for pointing out my mistake, I went back and changed it to be correct. I also fired my typist.

Back from the grave LOL. Anyway if I buy a new IPR sensor do I need the new updated screen? Fixing to get in there and was told to go ahead and replace the sensor while its apart. It is an 2003 with 190k miles.
