300/6 Freak while I have no problem with you giving ur opinion I do wonder why you are even in this site/forum? If dodge is what you like great go to a dodge forum and have a blast. Why come in here just to talk down fords?
+1 WELL SAID!
Love my 6.0 and congrats to you for getting one.
Freak obviously doesn't own one and is here for no other reason than to raise hell.
Probably a 12 year old kid whose parent's locked him out of the **** sights so he's out lookin to measure manhood.
My opinion is no its not a good diesel because I feel that the 6.0L is more often then not only good as a boat anchor. I feel there is a reason dodge sells 5x the cummins vs ford selling the 6.0L. THe cummins hasnt had to change in years startign from 1989-2007.5. Theres a reason and that is becasue the design works and works and works. sorry he asked for opinions and I gave mine about hte 6.0L
You have a long way to go before you establish that your opinion is worth listening to .... and off to a very poor start on the 6.0L forum. First off (start your own thread on it) show us you know anything at all about a 6.0L ..... or perhaps just be quiet and learn.
URDADDY - There is a ton of good info on this site - especially in the Tech Folder. Read up on your new truck, develop good maintenance practices, and you will be happy w/ your purchase. Feel free to ask a lot of questions as well!
well as long as your happy thats all that counts. As for derailing the thread before the OP asked if the truck was a good deal as it was his first diesel. My opinion is no its not a good diesel because I feel that the 6.0L is more often then not only good as a boat anchor. I feel there is a reason dodge sells 5x the cummins vs ford selling the 6.0L. Sorry freak for baiting you, but as I suspected you are just a internet parrot. A parrot is a bird that repeats what he hears whether fact or fiction. Actually Ford sold 3 times more superduties with with the 6.0 diesel engine then Dodge with the Cummins diesel, even selling a little more then Dodge and Chevy combined in the diesel market.
Hub & Marc thanks for backing me up on the qualities of the 6.0L.
Urdaddy, I think you paid the right price & I hope you enjoy that diesel like I love mine.
There is a lot of info in the tech folders.............
im not here for the diesel part of this forum im on here for the old 300 I-6 part of it. No i have not personally owned a 6.0L but I know enough people with them and they are always complaining about them. I never said I was a dodge guy only a cummins guy. I think its nuts how you all think that a 6.0L is better then a cummins and I can have the opinion. I can personally think that the 6.0L is junk. I said the 7.3L is a great motor also. Thats ok though you guys can have your fun I'll keep my cummins and come pull ya home with either one of my I-6's 4.9L or 5.9L (D) when your turbo, Egr system, HPOP, injectors, Head gasket(s), fuel delivery system ect.... lets go. Also if your running when my 48re auto dies well I'd expect the same thing a tow home. Im not 12ys old Ive owned diesels since 2003 so not forever but my old 12v that I should have never sold is about hte best motor ever built and my newer 05 CRD cummins is good also needs mods but only BC my 12v had quit a few and a tranny from DAve G again.
Also I like diesels and he asked if the truck was a good deal for his first diesel. I said no because I dont like the motor not because it was a FORD. I should have put my old 12v in a 97 F-350 4drsb 4x4. Now that the truck that should have come from the factory.
Gotta put my .02 in now....now I'm admitting to growing up chevy. But the time I've had wit my SD has been very satisfactory. Although I see many duramaxs and cummins...it does not compare to the SD I see in city and country. I bought my truck with many miles...but with proper maintenance wits ran like a dream. Especially with help from all guys from this site
If you sit down and write a pros and cons list for a ford with 6.0 and a dodge with a 5.9. You will find a list that is very similar in size. After I bought my 6.0 and found my first concern. I used google and found this website. All I can say is that I was so nervious about my purchase. That I started shopping for a dodge then and there. After doing my homework on both buying a dodge and keeping my 6.0. I decided that they both have quirks and the decideing factor for me. Was that the parts failing on a 6.0 were very cheap and easy to fix as long as I did the work. Also with a few mods you can make the 6.0 into a very reliable motor. When it comes down to it replaceing headgaskets and studs on a 6.0. Is just about the same price as buying a injector pump and lifter pump that won't fail within 100k for a cummins. Also with dodge horrible reputation for the transmissions, bodys and interior falling apart. Keeping the 6.0 and makeing it bulletproof seemed like a no brainer for me.
Personally I just think someone should only share opinions on a truck/engine if they have personal experience with it - instead of "I heard from someone else so it must be true" .............
Plenty of "I heads" don't know even half the story - let alone enough to try to come across as some kind of knowledgeable source!!
WOW, didnt mean to start a war in here. Anyway have been driving all day just to drive, and everyone loves the truck. I was afraid my teenage kids wouldnt like it as much as my05 screw F150 thats lifted with 35" mud tires on it because of the cool factor, but I guess the diesel made up for it.
Thanks for all the opinions and Im sure I will be asking lots of questions in the future.
