how much boost????

i have a 5.4 im building....i have 21cc dished pistons and all forged internals. my ? is how much boost can i run...i was thinking id like to b around 16 or 18 but not too sure what is safe to go with. any input would help

As long as it's built(all forged) and good head studs and gaskets ,you can run pretty much what you want or need to make the power your trying to hit.
Put a good set of cams and ported heads on it and you can make big power without to much boost.

Look at my sig.
That's only 16# of boost with 16* timing.

What kind of supercharger and are you having the tranny built?
Your tranny will be the week point with a big power built block.

so far i got......

ok this is what i got so far....manly forged 21cc dished pistons, forged crank and rods

got a stock blower setup from an 03 lightning (still in the crate) everything is there injectors, wiring etc.
plan on getting patriot stage 3 heads and not too sure about the cams yet thinkin a mean comp cam but again not sure.....

im hoping to hit 600hp or damn close

You'll need bigger injectors,MAF and two 255lph fuel pumps to hit 600 RWHP.

yeah, i was figurin on 70something lb injectors but i didnt know if a tune would take care of the MAF and i also wasnt sure about the fuel pumps....i have a stocker from a lightning also....

u might wanna know tis is going to go into an 03 f150 fx4 lifted of course....tranny will get upgraded when it blows 4.56 gears goin in soon......

If you have the L stock dual fuel pump set up, there good to about 450 or 500 rwhp. Most guys upgrade them to twin 255 pumps.
You may need to upgrade the fuel rails if going higher then that too.

I run 60# injectors and there good to about 700 or 800 hp.
When I run nitrous I'm hitting a little over 700rwhp.
I run a big air 3000MAF. You will be good with a SCT big air 26 or 2800MAF

At about 15# boost the stock Eaton is about at it's limits.Around 16PSI it starts making more heat then power.

You know that stock tranny will only last you a very short time at that power level.

k looks like im gunna stick around 15psi or less till i upgrade the sc......
yeah i know the tranny will go fast id really like to put a manual trans in there but i think ill just build up the auto....
thanks for the info about the MAF though

600HP(at the crank) is a goal if it takes me putting everything in then upgrading fuel system and later the sc then ok doing a lil at a time is fine but thats my end goal
