I have read a lot and was wondering what is the exact cause of injector stiction? Am I correct in assuming it is a varnish or buildup on the injector spool that causes issues with it firing correctly especially when cold? I know there are some people using REV-X and having good luck with it, but is it at all possible to eliminate the problem without an injector swap? Would running MMO or ATF or Seafoam in the crankcase for 100 or so miles just before an oil change help to eliminate remove the deposits causing the spool to stick? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question as I am new to 6.0 and learing all I can about the fuel system.
As far as I know, your definition of stiction is pretty good. Ford had released several strategies to help compensate for the stiction in injectors the most recent being inductive heating (just got mine updated today) I have run Rev-X with great success and the stiction was still gone after subsequent oil changes. I also run synthetic oil. Not sure about the other products you mentioned.
Sea foam did work for me. I used 2 cans in the crank but it took about 600 miles. it was low 40s today and it started with no missing at all. 1500 miles ago (when I added the sea foam) it would hop around and spit for about 5 min unless the coolant was at least 90.
I also have purchased Hot-Shots Secrets, but never used it. I will now just use 1/2 a jug after the Next oil change.
I used SeaFoam successfully also.....1 1/2 cans in crankcase (about 50-100 miles from oil change) and 1 1/2 in fuel. Pulled the upper fuel filter and suck the fuel out and refill with SeaFoam. Put what's left over in tank.
Before the time came to do the oil change, the prob was gone.
