Ip questions

Ok today i tryed to turn up my ip just enoth to get it to black smoke but when i did it could only turn it up bout a half a turn before it stoped. So i tried it i had more power but no smoke. Is the fuel screw stoping at only a half a turn a sign that i should get my ip rebuilt or is the screw suspost to be that hard to turn cuz i dont want to break my allen wrench off in there. Also does any know the stock setting for the fuel screw cuz i think the previous owner messed wit it judging by the gasket maker on the front plate of the ip. I would like to set it back to stock then turn it up from there

there is no stock setting that i know of. its all based on the rebuild and pressures of the rebuild spec. From what i have learned, all the rebuilds can vary based on who does it, what needs replaced. 1000 pumps can be built the same and each of those pumps screws can be set different. This is just reading i have done so if its way off, ill admit i am not 100% on it. Anyone else know.

As for your pump screw not going in any farther, yeah you might be in for a rebuild. if you turn it too far, there is something that can be damaged and kill the pump so careful. I do know when i jacked mine up to my specs, lol, it turns really hard but never stopped.

Every pump will be a little different and the screw is adjusted by the rebuilder to get the pump volume into the required specs. Don't run the screw bottomed out back it off slightly or i think you run the risk shearing the shaft in the pump if i recall.

Ok i think i got to turn it up a little more cuz now it wont start unless i give it a quick shot of propane but once it starts it runs fine but it i tap the go pedel it revs up but when i comes back down to idel it goes to bout 500 rpm ( sounds like like it bout to die) but then goes back up to normal idel. Once the engine is warmed it starts fine ( this all started when i tried to lower the screw back to normal)

mines has been doing this for a couple months now,and seems worse with the new injectors.
what some have suggested is to fill the filter with DK,start it up,let it run for a min, shut it down, and leave it over night.supposed to clean up something that sticks lol,but i don't recall what it was, inside the ip.

no not yet.
other than the ip,every other part of my fuel system has been replaced now though lol.tanks/lines etc.etc.
i'm gunna bump it up my priority list now i think.not sure if its going to like my new injectors.
she required a lot of turn to the pass side after injectors, and this stumble after let off is much more pronounced.
i fear she may leave me beside the road if i don't get to it fairly soon.

Yeah I'd get her working right. Change the IP and it will run like new.

very likely.iv never seen any smoke come from the tail pipe on this truck.other than a little white for a couple mins at cold temp starts.
im sure she could use some more fuel.but i don't have a pyro yet,so i don't dare touch it.
besides she has plenty of power for me,so id just assume not feed her any more fuel with the crazy diesel fuel prices anyway.
id turn the fuel down even more if someone told me id see another half an mpg.

Well do u have a turbo? If not u really dont need to egt's since u dont have the turbo ur no making much more heat by turning it up i got a couple of friends that have turned theirs up 2-3 turn n they been runing for years that way. As for diesel prices i only pay 3.54 a gallon for off road. Since where i live they dont do fuel checks n we dont have emissions test

You definitely can turn up the pump on a NA engine and burn it up...

Turning the pump up on an na motor causes the egt's to raise rather quickly beacuse you are adding fuel without adding air with a tubo you are adding the air the fuel needs to burn thus lowering egt's
