Someone bought me a ReadyRemote remote start system (start only, no locks, etc), and I'm having one hell of a time getting it installed. I have all the wires hooked up correctly, but it won't start when I push the button. The car will start with the key, so I know I didn't screw up any ignition wires. I have confirmed there is power to the unit because the parking lamps flash if I hold down the button for 3 seconds (manual says this is a car finder feature?). Has anyone done this in their Bronco before? Is there anything I need to do special to get this to work? It's a '93 EB edition with a 351W in it. Automatic. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I personally do not have an experience with this brand. Is the hood pin you need to install adjusted correctly? I know when i installed my remote start in my old bronco(89 XLT) i had to program it for certain things.
The hood pin gets completely pressed down when the good is closed. I tried another wire from the remote start unit to see if it would work, but I killed my battery by leaving the door open. It's in a place I can't jump it so I'll have to throw it on a charger.
Did you program it correctly?? I have a Ford Silver remote start on my 92, and you have to program it, If i remember correctly i had to hold down a button and wait for a "x" amount of horn "honks" ect ect every system im sure is a bit different. Im guessing/hoping you hooked up the horn wires and or the LED or light wires? when I program mine I listen for honks and watch for flashes but you can usually hear the "brain/main unit" click....
Im also 99.9% sure that the ONLY wires you need to get the remote start to work are the Brake switch wire and the Tach wire. brake switch is well on the brake pedal and the tach wire goes to the coil under the hood. If those two are hooked up it should start if wired correctly. I personally never hooked up the stupid hood wire because anyone whos got even 1/8th of a brain will disconnect the battery before doing any work other than an oil change The hood wire will only kill the remote start if its grounded I believe.
If your using tach mode this needs to be set and learned by the remote start system, also check that you have no continuity from the hood pin switch when the hood is closed, Plus the ready remote start systems need to go through the pre-test process before they will function.
Double check the wiring hooked up to the brake switch. I know that the wiring chart that i got from my remote starts website had the wrong color for the brake switch. IIRC, for mine you had to hook up to the negative side of the brake switch. The wire chart had the color of the possitve side of the switch.
I do have tach hooked up. The LED on my system blinks 7 times which indicates the neutral safety switch is failing. The instuctions give no instructions about a NSS. I do have the brake wire hooked up correctly, the hood pin functions (I hooked it up just to see if it had any effect). I think I might just bag this one. It's more trouble than it's worth even though I live in snow country. Anyway, if there's any other suggestions, I'd love to hearthem.
have you done the pre test on the system? this is so the remote start knows all connections have been made (or it won't start) If your getting a neutral safety switch code you have something wired wrong (can you post your model #) Any aftermarket or factory alarm on the truck?
