Exhaust system question

hey fellas. heres my question. i have an 89 f150 with a inline 6 engine. after my inspection in may, im looking to do a little exhaust work. i want to install the heartthrob exhaust system with the dual resonant tips. there was one guy on here, fordmandick, who did the same thing i want to do. but he hasnt gotten back to my emails. heres my question. with the I6 engine, are there 2 catalytic converters? ive looked at my truck and saw that there are two things on the exhaust, one is where the two manifold pipes come together, and the second is the cat. is the first thing, where the pipes come together, a catalytic converter, or is it just a collector/resonator? fordmandick said he took out his "second cat" and hooked the system up from there. i've tried to look at the haynes manual for some guidance, but it was no help. if you can help me out, please do. its always appriciated. thanks, john

Exhaust system question

They are both cats. He probably ment that he took out the second one. The one where single exhaust comes in and is single out.
