getint my donor motor in the mornin...any pointers on pulling it out by myself...anything i should take along with the motor... rapid response is helpful....
I just took one out of a truck in a few hours yesterday. Tight on time so we torched the crossmembers and front clip, floor jack on transfer case and tractor with chains on front and slid it out. We cut all hoses and wires tho. Quite a mess but got it all out and FAST
I don't know squat about vans, but I'd say rip the fenders off, rip the grille and radiator/support off, unbolt the transmission and drop it out, then unbolt the engine mounts and pull it...
I usually cut everything I can with the trusty 4" angle grinder. Demo is the easy part
The entire front end comes off these vans pretty easy, I'd had to take the whole front apart on my motorhome to do head gaskets.
The top of the rad cross member is held by some bolts on top, and I think some on the sides facing the engine, and usually that part is painted black. Undo the rad and pull everything out of there.
Pretty easy actually, now pulling the actual engine out, I have no idea how fun that's gonna be as I never did pull any engine out of these vans.
