E4OD deayed shifting into 2nd, etc

Hello all,

I have a 93 F150 300 6 cyl/E4OD just recently purchased. I've been having some funny tranny problems. First thing that happened was the gradual degradation of the tranny's shifting into a limp mode. It eventually went from normal shifting to a point where it would stay in 3rd gear when in D and would only downshift into 2nd. I only had 2 & 3. After doing some research, I was lead to checking the wire harness going to the tranny itself. I reseated the plug for the tranny and while I was at it I reseated the VSS cable. Afterward everything ran fine for a good while.

One of the things I did notice though was that when driving I would accelerate normally and the thing would shift a little later than what I woudl think is usual, the main one being that it would shift into OD around 55-60 mph. But if I let off the accelerator a little bit, not much, the tranny would shift into the next gear at more "normal" speeds. As long as I just feathered the pedal with a modest acceleration it would shift normally. I drove like this for a while, not really beating the truck during acceleration.

Now all of a sudden, the truck got to a point where it would stay in 1st when I start off and I would end up revving up to around 20-25 mph and would have to let off of the accelerator to just above idle to command the tranny to upshift. If I don't it'll just stay in 1st. Once I get into 2nd, everything is fine. I checked the oil level and it was low so I added oil, no help. Then the next day I drove off with the whole system cool, the thing worked fine for maybe 5 min or so, shifting like normal, then went back to staying in 1st again until I play with the pedal to make it shift.

At first I thought that maybe the thing was getting hot and that was contributing to this weird behavior. But another thing I noticed is when I rev the thing up to 20-25 to upshift, I would hear this weird sound from the tranny that has this muffled shrieky sound but would go away as soon as I upshift, and would never do it again unless I rev the thing up too high, and even then it wouldn't make that sound all of the time.

Its weird that it would do this, I wouldn't really know where to start looking. I did try to reseat the tranny cable again to no avail. The thing shifts, but it sticks in 1st and shifts only after going up to 25 mph and letting off the accelerator. Any ideas???

Check to see if any codes are stored in the PCM.

The first time I did pull up a code, I forgot to mention that, but that was whe I had the first problem. One of the codes was 624, and another one, I forgot the number but it mentioned something about torque converter clutch slippage. These were in the memory. I never cleared the codes though so when I scanned the truck again after this latest problem, I didn't get any new codes, just the same crap that was in there before. In all actuality, the last time I scanned it, the first code that came up was a 111/pass, then the other old codes. That only makes it stranger.
