I have a really stupid question. I have rebuilt my 460 and putting it back in my '85 F350. I bought new engine mounts but they don't seem to match up to the block. I am kind of new (read: very) to building ford engines and need some assistance. Am I missing a bracket that goes between the mount and the engine block? If so, where can I get them? I have looked and looked but can't seem to find them.
What's the story here? You took the engine out, and the motor mounts you bought are the same as what was in there but it won't fit? Or are they giving you the wrong motor mounts at the store? Or you bought this as a project already taken apart?
We took the engine out of the truck and realized that the old mounts were pretty much shot. We threw them away. I proceeded to buy new mounts. We tried to line them up to the block last night but can't see how they bolt to the block.
Yes, that is the part I am looking for. After some rooting around I was able to locate the brackets. I thought they had gotten thrown away with the mounts. I find it rather odd that I was unable to find these online anywhere. If you know of a good site that has Ford truck parts I would very much appreciate it.
There is no demand for them, they are not a wear item. That's the name of the game now. Nobody carries parts that are going to sit on the shelf for years with no sale. They want fast movers they can make money on, like gas tanks, sending units, rear parking brake cables, ignition switches, frame brackets, ignition tumblers, etc. All the stuff that commonly goes bad on these trucks, and is common to a lot of years and models also.
