Well I have to pull my 7.3, My oil pan gasket has sprung a leak. I tried to cheat it once and it got worse. So I'm Ready to pull it, now what I want to do is cut the top of the radiator support out the width of the radiator opening then weld in some 1 1/2"x2" tubing and modify it to bolt back together like they made in the superduty rad supports. Then i can remove it for future purposes if needed. Anyone ever done this before? Or know of anyone who has? This would allow me to pull my motor without worrying its gonna fall on me! Any ideas would rock, thanx!
Since you are willing to cut and weld....why not leave the engine in and cut the cross member out to fix the oil pan. Much less work with no long term problems if your welding skills are OK.

I have read about cutting the cross member but I wasnt so keen on that Idea, I have already pullled everything off and all I got left to do is unbolt the motor mounts and out she comes. I will let you know how it goes, I'll just start cutting and hope all goes well
