Anyone know where to get the hard one piece bed liners for our year trucks.
I have seen that some of the members here have them and, would like to know where to get one or if the even make em' anymore.
I will tell you, Everything slides around in the bed. Even heavy stuff. They can cause hardcore damage to tailgates also. They do sell special clips to hold items in place.
They also trap water and moisture between the liner and bed. This may cause rot if you do not occasionally air them out.
I do think that is why most people due the spray or roll in liner. You can still dent up the bed with those. They do look nice. I have no liner in mine. The rubber mats work well and are much easier to remove to air out.
I tried a roll on bed liner, was worn down to nothing in about 1 month. Not worth the time/money in my opinion. There are several types of sit in bed liners, over the top, and under the rail. I like the under the rail. they also have some with slots in them for wood to be cut to length, and placed cross ways, to keep stuff from sliding. As far as rusting the bed out, I have a bed liner in the 89 I bought new. I had to replace the cab floors, but the bed still has no holes, and still has paint on most of the floor. There are some really deep dents in the floor that you can't see with the bedliner in there. I guess the best bed liner would be a spray in done by a shop, I see a lot of those, but have never owned one
There is a rubber mat in my dads old truck, i will see if that would work in mine. If it dose i will use it if not, i'm thinking rhino liner done by a shop. Thanks for all the input guys
I found one for my short bed at the local JY on Tue. Got it for $30. It had a couple small holes in it that I used Liquid Nails on. That was the only thing I had handy that would stick to it.
There seems to be a lot of 8 ft. liners out there but I had a tough time finding one for my short bed.
I have had a bed liner in for 20 years and no problems. I went with the solid plastic one to hide the dents in the bed. It really cleaned it up and I have no rust problems. Make sure the drain holes in the bed are not clogged. Sometimes the slick surface is nice to have for sliding stuff in. Most of the time I run it with a rubber mat on top of the bed liner and this keeps stuff from sliding. I take out the mat for bark dust loads and moving large furniture or appliances.
I've used a rubber mat for about 20 years. The same one, in fact. I've never had it in a truck it actually fit, since it's for a long bed chevy. But the price was right, seeing as I found it laying in the middle of the road.....
Back about 18 years ago, I had one of those plastic bed liners given to me tailgate piece and all, so I tried it. Didn't take me long to figure out why the guy told me "No givebacks"...... I gave it to someone else, and returned to using my trusty rubber mat. Granted, this mat is is not the typical style found at most retail stores. It's old school, and weighs in around 100LBs by itself. In fact, it and the truckbox have now been on 3 different trucks in the 20-odd years I've had them. They're kinda like family, ya know......
