Question Steering gearbox

I have a 1978 F150 in need to find a good with no play steering gearbox for my truck? or how do you fix one so it steers like a new one? Is there a place to get all the parts to rebuild one? I have 3 of the gearboxes and all of them have so much play its hard to keep it straight in the road. Any help on this matter would be appreciated. Thanks ahead for any help.

Yeah go with this company! Dont try and rebuild it unless you have very good experience in doing so. LOL They have fixed some of the issues with the steering box too so you get that benefit. For the time you save and safety they are a good price.

X3 on Red Head. The hard parts needed to rebuild these units haven't been available for years. All the rebuilts you see are actually resealed NOT rebuilt, with the exception of Red Head. Red Head makes their own parts and does their own machine work, including fixing a design flaw in these boxes. The sector shaft rides on the cast iron housing with no bearing or bushing leading to wear and slop. Red Head bores out the housing and installs bearings for the sector shaft to ride on.
They can either rebuild yours or send you one from stock and use yours as a core.
Definitely worth the money.

My grandpa is a former Mechanic in Seattle, he said Red Head is the only place he would recommend to his customers. Whenever I get the time and the money, I'll take my box in there...until then I'll just build up my arm muscles every time I try to make a corner!

Swordman, I know all about having to save up for some of the parts needed. The wife is always making sure everything important is taken care of first.
