Need help with identifying my truck

Hey guys I'm new to this forum
I just purchased a 1952 f truck and am unsure whether its an f1-f8.
I am from Australia so it might be a bit different to over in the states and the info I've found is only applicable to American trucks.
So through researching I have found out that it is not an f1 as I had hoped due to the front end being bigger.
It is sitting on a hq holden ute chassis which is equivalent like a chev muscle car work truck over there. As it is not on a original chassis I am missing the serial/vin number.
The motor is also missing
All I have is two rows of 4 numbers on the passenger side firewall (the truck is right hand drive). These numbers are:

2081
1399

I cannot find anywhere what they might mean.
I also have a placard riveted to the roof where the sun visors should go
This states load information from Ford Motor Co Australia

It says model: T-73100
18000 L.B.S
load: 161 cwt

there is no compliance plate in the glove box I think its missing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Jasmine

I don't know much about the bigger trucks. What I can tell you is that I have a glove box data plate off of an F6 that shows the GVWR as 15500lbs. That would probably put yours as an F7 or F8. Good luck with the search.

Welcome! We have several Aussie members on the forum, they may chime in. If you put your location in your Profile (in UserCP) that would help.

Model code "T" looks to be an F-5 .

Thanks for the help!
I am hoping to restore this as a f2 as i'd rather not have a big truck so was wondering whether the guards are different from f2-f8.
Thanks again.

Not sure what you mean by "guards". Generally, the cabs and doors are the same for all models. The fenders will have larger wheel openings than the F1, but all the sheetmetal is the same for the F2 and up, I believe.

Hello, and another welcome to the forum from California!

This might help. Look on the frame for a vehicle ID number. You'll have to scrape dirt and grime off, but the numbers are usually on the top of the frame rail in the front somewhere forward of the most forward cab mounts...so near the front suspension. This pic should help you decode what you have: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/p...ictureid=98844

The trim work along the side of the hood on the '51-52 trucks should have the model number.

F-1s have their own front fenders with smaller wheel openings.

The F-2 through F-6 share the same front fenders with larger wheel openings.

The width side to side is the same for F-1 through F-6.

F-7 and F-8 fenders are noticeably wider than the smaller trucks.

To me, from looking at your picture it looks like your truck is an F-7 or F-8.

OP located in Australia, numbers in post #1 are related to a truck sold new "down under."

Can anyone here on FTE decode an Australian VIN or codes stamped on Rating Plates? They're not the same as US or Canada.

US Rating Plate, not the same as Australia/Canada/South Africa.

The wide fenders are standard equipment on F-7/8 and F-5/6 with 176-194" wheelbase. It is optional equipment for F-4/5/6 with 134-158" wheelbase. Ford offered a wider "dump" front axle as an option which included the wider fenders to match.

I got my wider front fenders off a 1951 M-6 with the dump axle.

The 1948-52 Australian trucks were built in Canada and then shipped over. The vin will be the same as a Canadian one.

My rating plate doesn't look like that either. Built in August at the Richmond, CA plant, and my '51 rating plate looks like this...

Are these really wide fenders, or is it just the fisheye effect of the camera? If you compare the hood width and lower valance width and where they fall on the grille bar, it looks about the same as my F-1. My understanding was the grilles on the bigger trucks with wide fenders were also wider compared to an F-1.

Only 48-50 had a wider grill. The 1951-52 used the same but the width of the front edge of each side is 2" wider.
