Hello, Havent been out here in awhile, weather got better, now I'm outside Wrenching.
I Just removed a Cracked right side Exhaust manifold from my 1988 5.0 EFI -God Bless PB Blaster penetrant !!
-Now I'm Pricing out a new Exhaust Manifold,
However,
I'm Finding that there are three different cast manifolds- Meaning that:
1 Has Raised Fins going length-wise-(With two bolted ports to the rear)
(this resembles mine, Yet is Listed for a '80-86)
1 Has No Fins, is completely smooth-(Listed for the '87-96)
and the other resembles the Exhaust manifold on the 351 ( no years given)
My Question, Is based on lining up my exhaust Pipe to the Manifold Dump Port.
- Are All of these Manifolds the same in 'Dimension, and Angle' to meet up with My Pipe?
Also-
My Exhaust pipe Flange that Meets the Manifold has Rotted out the Hole at the inner Stud, and I'm trying a 'Split Flange" racing flange to replace the old flange- Anyone use one of these with success ?
I Didnt even Think about the truck-car difference with manifolds-..Willl have to bring that up at the parts store-
Wanted to Put in some shorties, But was worried about opening a can of worms, 130K on the speedo, trying to keep the costs down incase something major breaks.
an car headers will work I took an set off an 1990's LSC Mark 7 lincon with an 302 HO motor the bolts all lined up but I don t know about the manifold thought just an thought If you want to search the internet and or parts yards!!!
