My truck is a 1990 5.0 4X4 and I am bolting up a new stock exhaust manifold to stock cat assembly. I'm trying to figure out exactly how the provided exhaust manifold hardware is supposed to bolt up. The studs have two different thread sizes. Only the long side of the stud threads into the manifold. Also, both style nuts will only thread onto the long side of the stud. I'm I missing something obvious here?

The provided directions don't say anything useful..

 

The short side should go into the manifold.

 

that makes sense but the short side doesn't have the correct thread pattern to go into the manifold...

 

Do you have a thread gauge to check both sides

 

Got to the bottom of it. The wrong studs were included in this kit. They are supposed to be 7/16-14 on both sides but the incorrect studs were included in the kit. The folks at Dorman were very helpful and they are over-night shipping me new hardware free of charge.
