I'm on my 2nd Expedition. Traded in my 1997 Eddie Bauer with close to 100,000 on it. I bought my 2002 last June and I just love it. Got a great deal on it also since it was the owner's Demo. Eddie Bauer with all the bells and whistles. I'm only 5' 1/2" so the adjustable pedals are the best. I work as a volunteer with Animal Control in my area, plus Animal Rescue and having 9 of my own dogs... (2 being XX-Large) out comes the 3rd row and off we go cruising. With the Entertainment Center, everyone wants me to take them places and traveling it keeps everyone happy.
I dont like the new 2003 though, i think they went to far with changes. So this maybe the last Expy I will own.
Nice to see another female on this board besides me -- and one who is not complaining that her truck is too wide to fit in the garage.
I'm on my first Expy, which I bought last summer -- a '99 EB with alllllll the gewgaws! I'm in love with them, too -- and I agree with your review of the '03. blech!
Acamar
-- a girl, her Expy, a 6'3" man, a Golden Retriever, and 200 lbs of scuba gear!
The looks of the new Expy might take a while to get used to...or you might not ever get used to them but go take one for a drive sometime when you're bored. They are very nice inside and drive really nice...ride better, handle better etc.
Just had to throw in my $.02 worth
Skisbabe98 I sure hope your Expy doesn't stink as bad inside as the RCMP dog patrol Expy that I have to work on sometimes. WHEW the wet dog smell in there is BAAAAAD
lol
From: I'm lost somewhere in NJ -- can someone please find me?!?!?!?
Loving my Expy
I've got to agree with Racerguy. The look has changed dramatically, but the vehicle was rebuilt from the frame up. Thicker frame, beefed-up components underneath, softer ride, power folding 3rd row seats, and a slew of improvements make the '03 behave much better than prior years. I don't know if AdvanceTrack was offered in the past, but if it wasn't I'm glad they added it, too.
Seriously, though -- take the new one for a drive before you knock it. You might just change your mind. Although I do agree that it lost a lot of character on the exterior cosmetics.
Thanks for the responses Acamar and guys. This is great.
Hey Acamar, garage??? I have a 2 car garage and I truly dont know if it will fit in there... should find out shortly though, spring cleaning is coming fast!! )) And if it doesnt, I DONT care!! LOL.
My truck doesnt smell like wet dogs... ewww thats gross. I try to keep it relatively clean.
I sat in a 2003 and didnt need to go any further. I'm glad its great for some people, but the 2003 felt smaller in side and thats a feeling I dont like.
Lets keep the big guys rolling..... and keep smiling everyone....
I also drove the 2003 -- got $75 for doing it, too!
Anyway, mercenary motives aside, I too thought it was smaller inside, and didn't like it one bit.
The ride was nice, but I couldn't get over the cramped feeling (which wasn't the only thing I disliked -- the driver's side handle that obscures nearly half the vision in my left eye, the awkward air vents that look like eyeballs, among other things). If I wanted to be cramped, I'd save a few thousand and get an Explorer.
