Won't get back to it till Friday evening. Got some snow here today and had stomach virus for last 2 days......not pretty. It's supposed to warm up into the upper 40's for the weekend!! I'm hoping to have it all buttoned up by the end of the weekend if all goes well.
I got my heads set back on and torqued. Tried to spin the engine over by hand as you suggested and goes all the way around then bang....sounds like it hits something and stops. Sounds like drivers side bank. #5 perhaps??? I read your post in another thread about #5. What is this stopage? Is it the lifter itself? What is the remedy and where should I go from here?
I have another concern. I set the head gaskets and heads on Sunday last week. It got dark, weather got bad, I got sick so I couldn't torque them until this weekend. My concern is there was some oil that must have leaked down from the head and some coolant that ran down the side of the block. This came from between the head and block surface. Will this be an issue? I finished torqueing the heads this morning but didn't see it until I was finished. Thoughts??
Down to just the intake and turbo left to install. The intake was a mess. A lot of oil inside it. Finally got it all clean. I took a break from the engine and installed my new Redhead steering box the other day. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet and already feel a noticeable difference in the wheel. I'm going to try and attach some pictures of my progress. Thanks for the help.
As low as I could get it
oil in the turbo intake
Stripped
HPOP
Old style STC fitting
New STC fitting installed
HPOP Valley
Oil cooler....Nasty
Broken HPOP screen
Rebuilt Oil Cooler
New gaskets
I can't stress enough the importance of staying organized.
awesome pictures!!!!!! well i just realized the difference in the old style stc fitting and the new one. looks like mine already had the new one but o well i replaced it anyways. glad its all going good!!
Nice pictures! Doing it in your driveway too nice.
How hard was it to do the stc fitting, I think mine is starting to leak.
As for thump it might be a bent push rod? Happened to me, didn't catch it until the truck was back together 100%
If you still have valve covers off, I'd say pull the oil rails and check the rocker arms out and push rods, when mine bent it was in cylinder 5 and it was easily noticeable.
