Hey Bill,
Absolutely beautiful truck! (Now go over there & help Tyler figure out his overheating problem before he rips his engine out of there).
I love that seat - Is it leather? Second question is what's the cork looking brown material you put down behind the seat? Our exterior is looking good but the interior is still pretty basic - love the interior of your truck.
Hi Ben..Tyler is moving so fast I can't keep up with him! The interior is vinyl done some years before I might have afforded leather. The brown stuff under the seat is brown carpet which took on a whole new tint because of the camera flash. Really appreciate your comments. Bill
Bed wood is in place for trial fit before oiling and sanding. I'm not too keen on the shiny clear coatings anymore. Rather just periodically re-oil. I like the light oak color so wont be going too dark. Ro (my wife) has volunteered to do the finish work..which is good since she has more patience than me. I really like the hidden bolt bed strips because they give me some flexability needed due to the under bed tank. Installing the seat belts also.
Solid side window installed. Instructions weren't too helpful..doesn't anybody draw pictures for their instructions anymore? Seems I can always count on the camera to vary the color of the image!!
Still thinking of using an original steering wheel on a GM column like you did.
One consideration I made when selecting the tilt column was the shorter length of the Flaming River in the bell area. The stock wheel has a pretty good dish to it. Still have to figure out how to make the horn work. I know it's possible, just have to take the time to think it out. I really appreciate everyone's comments and help! Bill
I two or three of the late 70's GM Van tilt columns in like new condition that I am going to use. I may have to play with how far the column comes up when I get to that point. You have a really nice clean build going
Hey Bill,
Congratulations on getting that solid window in there - that's supposed to be one of the most frustating mods on these trucks. I read all the busted knuckle posts on that one & stayed with roll up windows & the vent piece. I've saved it for later when my patience level is high. Good one over there.
