ICP and P2285 Code

I've got a P2285 code thrown in my 2003 6.0L. I'm guessing the ICP sensor needs to be replaced. My question is should I just start by replacing the pigtail harness for $24 (International) or would that be impossible for the harness to be causing the code? The truck runs great with the exceptional shutter at a stoplight (which i've heard may be related to the ICP going out) but it happens very rarely. I'm not going to attempt changing the ICP since i've heard 03's are terrible to get to and i'm not very mechanically inclined I'm just looking for a little advice.

Thanks,
Nate

oil leaks in the harness from the failed icp sensor, theres a reason we always replace both.

I just had the same problem. I took mine to the local Ford house and they replaced the sensor and the pigtail. The parts cost $175.50 with labor running $124.43. Grand total $333. My truck was running fine except for a little shutter at idle and sometime the engine would race at idle. I hope that gives you some idea of the cost.

I dont see any oil leaking. So if i get that code is it pretty much a guarantee that the ICP sensor is bad?

Ya my dealership wants $225 for just labor which is like 2 1/2 hrs by my calculator seems high but it is a 03. Hunter not sure what year yours was but could explain the cost difference.

On the positive note I did lookup the International part numbers and i'll save $75 between the two parts ordering from them...$50 savings on just the pigtail harness.

Mine is an 03. Lots of competition from diesel mechanics in this area. Could explain the lower price.
