Pull the ipr and check the screen. Even if the screen is good remove it and take a 1/4" screwdriver and press in on the cone shaped piece under the screen. Spray some carb cleaner and blow out with while pressing in. The piece has a spring behind it so it should close back up. Reassemble and see what you have. The 03 and early 04 trucks have alot better hpo plumbing not very prone to leaks.

Don't jinx me. Mine has a reman in it, the only reason I know this is because it is stamped on it. Ticking bomb waiting to go.

Nah... Usually early 6.0 HPOPs are bad right out of the box. If the engine starts you should be good to go for a while.

Hey thanks for the responses taking a little time to recover physically then I'll get right in and try the ipr cleaning.i wasn't sure if that could cause the low oil pressure I was seeing on cranking, but I'm sure glad there's at least one more possibility.i'lll post results as soon as possible.by the way this hpop was new from ford installed january of 2012 that's why I'm hoping its something else!thanks again guy's...

Ok so sorry for the delay been getting slaughtered with health probs.so I was finally able to pull the ipr valve what I found was no apparent clogging but the screen was blown out. So I removed the screen and as a test I applied 12v to terminals and valve is definitely actuating so it would appear to me that its working.that being said, and the fact that I still got a no start when unplugging icp and trying to start I'm thinking hpop but if you guys could give me your opinions I would really appreciate the guidance.running my excursion for everything at a grand old 9to10 mpg is a killer...

Also important to mention is just last yr head studs and gaskets were done along with the hpo tubes that Run thru the heads.not that this would rule out a hpo leak from an internal source but it just lessens the odds i.m.h.o. Even though my hpop is so recent and was a new not rebuilt unit from ford I'm stressing that its the culprit.again if some of u well schooled in the diagnostics could give me your opinions I would appreciate it
