outer cv joint removal

outer cv joint removal
Can someone please help? I have a 97 explorer limited 5.0 and I'm trying to remove the outer cv joint from the shaft. The main problem is that the transfer case is binding. So I removed the front drive shaft (to transfer case) and cv axles but I need to get the outer joint off the axle.

I'm pretty sure Steve is right.
When I took out my 4X4 stuff up front, the guy that did it took out the outer joint and the wheel almost fell OFF!
It's one piece and that's what holds the wheel on on my 03 anyway.
What we did was take out the hole assembly and used a band saw to cut off the outer joint...lol
